On Friday night, the second last item on the summer list was done. A special sleepover. Only ‘go to Africa’ left on the list, but not enough time to do that this year.

A little girl and her little brother came to stay. “We didn’t sleep in the same room, we talked.” Just outside the house there was a traffic light. It’s now gone away.

“Have you ever seen a blue one?” asked Grandpa. Nobody was sure if it was a good idea to look for a blue traffic light, or if it was a joke.

On Sunday afternoon, another question: “Have you seen a blue traffic light yet?” “There are no blue traffic lights” says the little girl. “But how do you know that?” She thought for a while. Tricky. How can you prove a negative?

“The blue ones are very shy, you have to wait a long time to see one, and they’re quite rare”.
