The Packhorse Bridge

Packhorse Bridge

The worn stones of the Packhorse Bridge remind every walker that many others have travelled this way before us.

This little site beside the bridge is designed as a place for a pause, a breather, for any fellow traveller who passes this way.

Rest, Refreshment and Encouragement
Easy for ministers, of any age, to feel like one of the horses in the fourth or the fifth line from the front, a long way home and the load already heavier than at the start.

The invitation from Jesus to come to me’ and I will give you rest’, and his instruction to take my yoke’ and learn from me’ is as liberating as ever.

This green space beside the bridge is a good place to rest, listen, and pray, to fill the tank for the way ahead.

About the Packhorse bridge
The notes here are from a fellow traveller, still learning what Jesus means by his invitation to come to him, and his instruction to learn from him, and his insistence that his yoke is easy and his burden light. As we listen together to him, contemplate him, chew over what we see and hear, and respond in prayer, we can ask for further strength for the road ahead.
